The Küffner RST type, barrier-free slide door is designed for independent use by all persons – whether big, small, old or young, and with or without handicaps. This solution, winner of several awards, comes in a universal, though no less variable design, and while doing justice to the highest functional and aesthetic standards, also avoids exclusion. The Küffner RST type slide door has been awarded the quality seal “DIN-tested BARRIEREFREI”. DIN CERTCO, certifying the conformity of the construction with the valid norms of barrier-free construction and living, sends out a signal for user equal opportunities, and conveys planning certainty.

The Küffner slide door is combinable with any door frame as designed by all architects and planners; it is a single sliding door and turns only 1/3 of the entire doorleaf width into a room – just one of the key advantages is the ergonomically convenient opening motion of the door. For wheelchair users, the door handle is always within easy reach, the motion sequence for the opening and closing of the door is identical with that of a conventional swing door. When compared with the unusual use of a slide door, this also facilitates the operation of the Küffner slide door for people with mental handicaps. Furthermore, the patented hardware system makes an emergency opening possible in the case of locked doors.

Through the function and the special opening motion of the Küffner barrier-free slide door, substantial savings can be made in building expenses: without optical limitations, the rooms can be given a larger and corridors a smaller dimension.

The special construction of the RST leads to the door leafs being opened into the corridor to only 1/3 of the total door width. Consequently, corridors can be more narrowly designed and toilets or showers, for example, more voluminously.

What is fascinating is that for the use of the Küffner barrier-free slide door no special doorframes are required. As a result, the door can be installed without additional expenditure into the planned concept of the doors and frames. High-quality standard fittings such as low-noise locks are equipped with WC latch or with a profile cylinder (PC).

The high durability of the RST has been positively approved in official long-term performance tests following 500.000 opening cycles, as well as being carried out in hundreds of objects.
